Laminate Selection
Our extensive inventory of laminates lets us deliver PCBs fast.
Royal Circuits stores an extensive variety of laminates including exotic materials to meet our customer’s quick turn needs.
While this is a significant upfront investment, we believe it’s necessary to give our customers the level of service they deserve.
The correct laminate material will depend on your design and application. If you need help deciding which material to select, or have questions about cost, lead-time, or availability, please contact us.

Laminate Properties
Laminate properties include:
– Tg: Glass Transition Temperature
– Td: Decomposition Temperature
– Coefficient of Thermal expansion
– Dk: Dielectric Constant
– Df: Dissipation Factor
When choosing a laminate, ask what do you need?
– Low loss?
– High Speed?
– Operating Environment?
Laminate Descriptions
FR-4: There are a wide variety of FR (Flame Retardant) materials available from low Tg (not suitable for lead-free) to high Tg like FR408HR. FR4 materials are all epoxy based. Most types are in-stock.
High-Speed Materials: Resin chemistry and glass type (if used) provide higher signal performance over FR4. When selecting high-speed materials dissipation factor and dielectric constant are important considerations. Low profile copper provides lower loss.
High-Frequency Materials: High-frequency material are used in RF designs. They provide the lowest Df and consistent Dk. Often high-frequency boards are hybrid with one piece of high-speed laminate and the rest FR4.
Polyimide Materials: High-frequency material are used in RF designs. They provide the lowest Df and consistent Dk. Often high-frequency boards are hybrid with one piece of high-speed laminate and the rest FR4.
